Founder & Director of PhysioFit
Samantha Cheesman

BAppSc Physio, Masters Hlth Sc Sports Physio, M.A.P.A

Samantha Cheesman completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy at Sydney University in 1994 and is a Member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. She has been working solely in the area of exercise and education since completing her Masters of Sports Physiotherapy in 2000. Her passion is to assist with prolonged or re-occurring pain and problems. She is known amongst her referrers as the physiotherapist to send people to who have complicated problems or who have tried everything else and failed.

PhysioFit was established by Samantha in 2000 with the aim of educating people about active ways of managing their pain. Time and time again, she was faced with patients who had become dependent upon passive forms of treatment (chiro, physio, osteo, massage etc), and who were searching for answers as to why their pain continued to return, or never ceased. Sam provides a number of answers and offers solutions in the form of education about posture, how to go about your daily activities and exercise. She will not only teach you how to maintain the gains you have made after “hands-on treatment,” but also aims to help you prevent recurrences.

Sam sees herself as an educator. She has the tools to help and wants to give them to you so you can help yourself. You will often hear her say that “She is with you only once a week at the most, but you are with your own body 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 356 days a year, which means you will have a bigger effect on your own recovery than she possibly can”. She will educate you about your particular body constitution and advise on the most suitable exercises providing you with the know-how and the confidence to participate in activities you may have been afraid to try or activities that time and again have led to a recurrence of your symptoms.

She is accredited with the health funds, so if your private health fund covers physiotherapy, you will be able to claim some money back from them (refer to your health fund for the exact amount). She is also accredited to provide Physiotherapist Enhance Primary Care Plan (EPC), workers compensation and third party activity based sessions referred to us by your GP.
